BLS for Adults and Children

Course overview

 

The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children is designed for anyone who wishes to learn basic life support skills for adults, children and infants. It is the perfect qualification for those who are qualified in providing first aid and are looking to refresh or develop their existing first aid knowledge. During this half day course, learners will be given the opportunity to practice essential basic life support procedures, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, recovery position, CPR and choking. 


Course Duration: half day course (approximately 4 hours)

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Recognising when to commence CPR and defibrillation 
  • Adult CPR and defibrillation 
  • Child CPR and defibrillation

  • Assessing levels of consciousness 
  • Opening the airways 
  • Checking breathing

  • Recognising the signs of choking 
  • Choking treatment for adults, children and infants

 Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. 


There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
