Course overview
This 1-day course is ideal for anyone responsible for the care of babies and young children, including early years staff, teachers, childminders, and parents. It provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to emergency situations involving infants and children.
Topics covered include:
- Assessing an emergency situation
- CPR and use of an AED (infant and child)
- Choking
- Seizures
- Wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Minor injuries and accident reporting
The qualification meets the requirements for those working in early years settings and supports compliance with OFSTED and EYFS standards. On successful completion, learners will receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for 3 years.

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
