Paediatric First Aid

Course overview

This comprehensive 2 - day course is designed for individuals who care for infants and children in a professional setting, including nursery workers, childminders, teachers, and support staff. It provides learners with the full range of knowledge and practical skills required to deal with a wide variety of first aid situations involving young children and babies.


Topics covered include:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
     
  • CPR and use of an AED (infant and child)
     
  • Unresponsive casualties
     
  • Choking
     
  • Seizures
     
  • External bleeding and shock
     
  • Fractures, burns, bites, and stings
     
  • Anaphylaxis and asthma
     
  • Meningitis and other serious conditions
     
  • Accident reporting and record keeping
     

This qualification meets the requirements of OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for full paediatric first aid training. Successful learners receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for 3 years.

  • 2 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers).

Entry Requirements

 Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. 


There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
