The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid Course is an advanced training program that equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills to respond effectively to paediatric medical emergencies in various settings. This course covers advanced techniques for assessing, managing, and providing care to paediatric patients in critical situations. During this 1 day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, seizures, external bleeding and more.
Course Duration: 2-day course (approximately 12 hours)
Course Highlights:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for children and infants.
- Automated external defibrillator (AED) use and integration into CPR
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
- Practical hands-on exercises, simulations, and case studies
Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
